Stephanie's New Zipper Pouch!

My darling wife loves playing the lottery every week.  Not anything crazy but maybe 10 or 20 dollars worth.  She keeps all of her tickets and affiliated paperwork bundled up with a rubber band.  It seems like every few weeks that rubber band breaks.  When that happens, she'll repair said rubber band with a knot and of course in another week or two that one will also break.  It's a vicious cycle.  I had to put a stop to it!  Here was my solution.

I ran into a great little Zipper Pouch Tutorial that Jenny Doan has from the Missouri Star Quilt Co.  I know it seams like I use a lot of her tutorials.  My blog sorta has them sprinkled all over the place.  She just really has a simple down to earth way of explaining the art of sewing.

I already had all the supplies I needed for this fun simple project.  "I actually didn't have to buy anything".

The one thing I did a little different from Jenny was that I added a liner and a little zipper pocket in the interior.

This was really a fun little project to sew together.

I had to start her off with a dollar for "Good Luck".

I had so much fun putting this little pouch together you start trying to find excuses to make another.  I'm just glad I know longer have to worry about "flying rubber bands" while I drive.

My Pattern Lineup All The Way Through Next Spring!

It begins, my turning of the page back to garment sewing.  I really do have quite the back log of sewing patterns I've been itching to start.  I've placed them in five different categories.

Always wanted to make a baseball shirt.

Love band collars, can't wait to make this one.

Just an everyday casual.

Dress Shirt.  Always good to have a couple of these made up.  Just never know when I'm going to be stuck having to wear a tie.  Yikes!

I've been wanting to make these ever since Morgan, over at Thread Theory put the pattern out.  For some reason I just never ordered it until last month.  I can't figure it out either.  Better late then never though.

Once again, and another I wanted to make quite some time ago when Peter over at Male Pattern Boldness had a sew along for jeans.  I will get these made this year though!  Yep one way or another.

Another pair of Khaki Pants.  I wanted to give this pattern a try and find out how it fairs against my other pants patterns.

I know it's not a jacket but it sorta falls into that category and I always wanted to make a vest.  I think there sorta cool : )

Just a light weight spring or fall jacket, they always come in handy.

....and a real comfortable jeans jacket.

I wish I would have had a pair of these all made up when I was doing our kitchen renovation, they would have come in real handy.  So the last time I ordered from KWIK Sew I just had to toss them into my cart.

Last but not least a pattern for Stephanie.

So as you can see I have quite the line up.  See what 10 months of quilting does.  It backed me up worse then a block of cheese.  Even though I loved every minute of it and two wonderful quilts came out.  It really is going to feel good to start sewing some clothes again.  I sure wish I could find a group from this area who wanted to take a day trip to the garment district in N.Y.C.  I definitely have some fabric I need to pick up.

Exploding Block Quilt Finished and it's staying on my Bed!

It's been five months in the making but yesterday at approximately 3 p.m. I finally finished her, my "Exploding Block Quilt", and I love the way it turned out.  Thanks Jenny from the Missouri Star Quilt Co. for another very cool quilting pattern.  Also a special thanks goes out to Mary from Merry Mayhem's Mystery Quilts for taking time out of her day to help me pick out the perfect binding fabrics at her shop in Marmora, New Jersey.

As soon as I was done with the picks I made the bed up and slept under this wonderful quilt last night.  I have to say I had a excellent nights sleep ; )

I think this concludes my quilting for a while as I have a back log of sewing patterns I have been ordering since I started the last two quilts that are yearning to be sewn.  That's all together another post though.  I hope everyone is having a wonderful weekend!

Until next time....Happy Sewing!  Seam Ripper Joe
