From time to time we check out our local estate sales just for fun. It's always interesting to see what type of sewing related items you are able to find that you absolutely have to have. That happened to me just last week. This particular house had a separate room that was designated just for sewing. They had a couple of old Singers in cabinets and a couple more machines sitting on the floor but nothing that really stood out to me. Boxes and boxes of patterns but mostly for kids and loads of patterns for women. Some men's patterns from the 60's and 70's but.....still nothing that jumped out at me.
That is until I looked inside the closet.
It measures 31" high by 17" wide. I just had to pull this case out and find out exactly what it was. So I undid the latch and opened it up and I was sold, it was pretty cool. I had to have this.
It was loaded with goodies. What a excellent notions box. Once opened it measures 31" high by 34" wide. I've never seen anything like it.
Once home the real fun began, sorting through it all.
It took a good 45 minutes to just to empty it out and sort through everything. Love all the little jars, great for keeping different colored buttons separate.
Gave it a good cleaning vacuuming out all the nooks and pockets. Then to the restocking!
You can actually fit loads of fabric and patterns on the bottom two pockets. Love this box it's the best. I'm just not sure if they made these for re-sale or it was homemade. Has any one else ever seen one like this?
So if it's a beautiful sunny weekend get out to a good estate sale you just never know what kind of interesting sewing stuff you'll come up with.
Until next time....Happy Sewing! Seam Ripper Joe
